Security

Signing in, and who can see what

Hospital computers are shared, and staff change. These are the controls that decide who can open which screen.

  • QR code sign-in

    Sign in on a desk computer by scanning a code with a phone you have already registered.

  • Fingerprint and Face ID

    Approve that sign-in with the biometric your phone already uses. No password typed at the desk.

  • Trusted devices

    Register a device once, then use it to approve future sign-ins. Remove it any time.

  • Two-step verification

    Turn on a second verification step for accounts that can change staff, roles or billing settings.

  • Roles and permissions

    Reception sees the front desk. A doctor sees patient documents. Nobody sees a screen their role has no use for.

  • Encrypted backups

    Backups run on a schedule and are encrypted before they leave the server.

Document storage

Your documents stay in your account, not ours

You open a storage account in your hospital's own name, with Google or Amazon. Your documents go into it. We put files in and take them out. You hold the login.

    You open it with Google or Amazon, in your hospital’s name. Not our account with your name on it. You hold the login. You can look inside any time, without asking us.

  • Nothing about your files depends on us still existing

    No export request. No waiting. No negotiation. Nobody has any leverage over you. You log in to Google or Amazon and everything is there, exactly as it was.

  • We don’t ask for permission to delete

    The access we ask for is upload and read. Deleting isn’t part of it. Removing a document is yours alone to do, from your own account.

  • We keep no copy of your documents. Not even a backup

    That sounds like less. It is more. If our servers were ever attacked, your patient documents would not be there to steal. We hold no copy of your files at rest.

Patient documents live in your own storage account and are never stored by us. The administrative records inside AMMAHEALTH — appointments, billing, staff, attendance — are on our servers in the United States, and backed up in encrypted form on a rolling schedule.

You already pay for storage. You just can't see it.

Every hospital system stores your files somewhere, includes it in the subscription, and marks it up. You never see the line item. The difference here isn't that you pay — it's that you pay the real cost, directly to Google or Amazon, and at the end of it you own the account.

We take no cut of it. We don't resell it and we don't mark it up. That is why it is this cheap.

You pay only for what is actually sitting there. A clinic three months in, with a few thousand prescriptions stored, might pay ₹30–50 for that month. Not a package — the actual amount. It starts near zero and grows only as your records grow.

Only patient documents go here. Your day-to-day administrative work — appointments, billing, staff, attendance — stays inside AMMAHEALTH as normal, so this does not fill up quickly.

Assumes an average document of ~750 KB and Google Cloud's list rate of ~₹1.76 per GB per month. Uncompressed photos taken on a phone can be three to four times larger, which raises every figure with them. These are estimates, not a quotation — you pay Google or Amazon directly, at their price, and AMMAHEALTH receives no part of it.

How it grows over ten years

Storage only ever grows, because we never delete anything. That is the point of it, and worth being straight about. What matters is how fast, and what that costs.

These figures assume an average document of ~750 KB — a normal scanned or compressed page. Photos taken straight from a phone camera, without compression, are three to four times larger, and every number below rises with them. They are estimates from ordinary scanning practice, not measurements from your hospital, and your own scanning settings and volumes decide the real figure.

What the providers charge

These are the providers' own published rates, paid by you directly to Google or Amazon. AMMAHEALTH receives no part of them. They are indicative, set by the provider, subject to change, and they vary with region and usage.

Which one should you choose?

Google Cloud Storage or Amazon Web Services. Those two, and no others. They are among the largest providers in the world, both run data centres in India, both are used by banks and governments, and both will still exist in ten years. Cheaper or unknown providers may be slower, less reliable, or may not last.

The web application is built for desktop and laptop computers, where reception, billing and administration actually happen. The Android app is for the rest of it — looking up a booking, checking the day, approving a sign-in — and the web application opens on any other device with a browser.
